8pm Scouting Book for Boys (Harper 09)

Although a slightly lower profile than some of the recent British hits, Scouting Book for Boys is definitely up there in terms of quality and with Thomas (This is England) Turgoose and Holly Grainger it has two young leads delivering performances to rival some of the best.

Essentially a coming-of-age story, the film follows the two teenagers who’ve grown up on a caravan park in Norfolk where their parents work, until events transpire to break up this childhood friendship. A deftly handled, absorbing movie, beautifully shot by Fish Tank cinematographer Robbie Ryan with another excellent performance by Thomas Turgoose, this is well worth catching.
