8pm I Love You Phillip Morris (Glenn Ficarra, John Requa10)

A gay comedy with Jim Carrey, and Ewan McGregor doing his American accent… Well, what doesn’t sound at all promising on paper, is actually really rather fun and quite off-the-wall by Hollywood standards.

It’s based on a true-life story, which is incredible, but apparently true and this means a rather wandering, frantic narrative as our loving couple get deeper into trouble. Witty, chaotic, yet surprisingly touching and heartfelt, this rather good film is certainly the most unique Hollywood film for many a year. You might even like Jim Carrey. Although McGregor’s American accent is still terrible…
